22 European Higher Education Institutions join the European Higher Education Fair

These are the elements which you are sure to have when you take the first step towards pursuing European higher education.

Almost 2,000 students, faculty, researchers and academicians grabbed this chance and trooped to the European Higher Education Fair held yesterday 14 November at The Peninsula Hotel,Manila. 

Aside from the distinguished and top-notch universities from the European Union, another significant feature of the EHEF 2012 in Manila was the participation of the more than 20 alumni of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship and mobility programmes who excelled in various disciplines led by Ms Sheila Balbutin, Vice-President of the Erasmus Mundus Association – South East Asia chapter.

The Fair proper  was open to the public from 2 to 8pm with the participation of 22 European Higher Education Institutions  from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The following institutions joined the most exciting education fair to hit Manila: Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (Austria), Audencia Nantes School of Management, HEC Paris, Mod' Art International, Sciences Po, France; DAAD, Rheinland Institut, Germany; Instituto Europeo di Design, Italy, Amsterdam Foundation Campus, The Netherlands; IE Business School, UNED Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia, Spain; Lund University, Sweden; Anglia Ruskin University, Bradford Colelge, International Study Centers UK and Europe, University of East Anglia, University of Glamorgan, University of Huddersfield, University of Reading, and University of the Arts London, UK.   

EU MS Ambassadors, EU Ambassador Guy Ledoux, Commission on Higher Education Chairperson Patricia Licuanan and Education Secretary Armin Luistro opened the European Higher Education Fair  at The Peninsula Hotel, Manila.

Ambassador Guy Ledoux was joined by Ambassadors Wilhelm Donko (Austria), Luca Fornari (Italy), Toon Boon von Ochssée (Netherlands), Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Mr Ignacio Perez Cambra (Spain) and Ms Amanda Burrell, Director,British Council.

Ambassador Ledoux said that the conduct of the Fair was another milestone in pursuing further the collaboration on higher education and research between the Philippines and the European Union.

The EHEF 2012 was  a reaffirmation of the commitment of the European Union to give priority to higher education in view of the challenges of globalisation and to enable  Filipino students to  make contacts with European  higher education institutions and access best education opportunities". he said.

The Fair marked  the 25 years of the European Union's Erasmus Scholarship and Mobility Programmes and will provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of best practices between Philippine and EU universities and higher education institutions.

EHEF Manila 2012 was made possible with the assistance of EU Member States' Embassies and Cultural Institutes in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education. Media partners for this year include Inquirer.Net, Travelife Magazine, DZRJ, philstar.com and when in manila.com.

The First European Higher Education Fair was successfully held in the Philippines in February 2008.
