Computer school for the blind honors its graduates

MANILA, Philippines - ATRIEV, the only school for the blind in the Philippines that specializes in information technology/computer, will hold its graduation ceremonies to honor its graduates for years 2010, 2011 and 2012 on Nov. 4, at the Event Center of SM City Fairview.

ATRIEV has maximized the use of assistive technology to make blind people competent computer users. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see for yourself how they do it literally with eyes closed. Meet these blind achievers in person. Listen to their computers that talk.

The graduation ceremonies is the highlight of ATRIEV’s SM Mall Tour dubbed as “ICare! A Vision Beyond Sight!” —in partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Cares — where ability and amusement is fused into one great afternoon of fun, prizes and surprises. Enjoy the fun games from 12 noon to 4 p.m. as a prelude to the graduation proper. Registration is free!

It’s not just a showcase of ability but a showcase of talent as well. Watch blind divas perform the hits of Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Adel, Taylor Swift and more. Enjoy the acoustic rendition of popular Pinoy hits by a group of male visually impaired instrumentalists. Be moved by the heart warming rendition of a visually impaired flutist. Entertainment will be at its best with the newest Viva RnB Phil-Aussie singer, Jason Hernandez, who was born and raised in Sidney, Australia but his heart and music is truly Filipino.

The whole day event will be capped by the graduation ceremonies of over 60 visually impaired students of ATRIEV who are now pursuing higher education in various IT schools or working as telesales agents, insurance supervisors and educators.

Congresswoman Bernadette Herrera-Dy of Bagong Henerasyon party-list and a staunch supporter of ATRIEV’s programs will be the guest speaker.
