MANILA, Philippines - Eighty-one thousand and eight hundred ten pupils from 267 public elementary schools in Lanao del Norte province each received a set school supplies from the provincial LGU under the “Kabataan Sigurado” program, a Quibranza-Dimaporo initiative.
The primary schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) are situated in the 22 towns of Lanao del Norte.
The school supplies include bond papers, coloring book, sharpener, crayons, pencils and a plastic art bag.
Among those who received assistance were kindergarten pupils and grade school students. Delivery of school supplies started on June 25. Teachers also receive a box of chalk each for use of their daily classes.
According to provincial information officer Lyndon Calica, “Gov. Khalid Dimaporo is now focusing on the education sector. He wanted to help these school children by providing them with school supplies which they use every day in their classrooms.”
“In behalf of my pupils and their parents, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our very supportive Gov. Khalid Dimaporo who personally handed the supplies to our students. This is really a big help to them, especially those who can’t afford to buy art materials,” said Donggoan Principal Lorna Salcedo.
The “Kabataan Sigurado” initiative also supports national government’s Brigada Eskwela program which aims to improve the learning environment of students in public school, especially those in rural areas.
On May 21 to 25, the provincial government also distributed construction materials to 63 elementary schools to support DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela.
The construction supplies include roofing materials, plywood, concrete and wood nails, roof sealant, paint and paint brushes, paint rollers and trays, and door knobs.
