MANILA, Philippines - The CFA Society of the Philippines recently held its annual university outreach: “Jump-starting a Career in Finance: Listen to Experts, Discover your Options 2012” at the Grace Auditorium of Word of Hope Christian Church in Quezon City, continuing its advocacy on developing and producing young finance and investment professionals.
The seminar was attended by over 4,000 students majoring and graduating in Finance, Business, Management, Entrepreneurship, Industrial/Management Engineering, Economics, Accountancy, Math, Statistics and related courses from over 50 universities and colleges within and outside Metro Manila. Now on its 2nd year, the seminar is a program that uphold’s the Society’s goal of nurturing the next generation of finance and investment professionals by promoting ethical behavior and professional standards espoused by the CFA Program, and by creating awareness of the career options available in the field of finance.
“This initiative is envisioned to deliver both near-term and long-term value to the investment community in the Philippines by giving future investment professionals a clear view of how to rightly build a career in finance at an early stage,” says April Lynn Lee-Tan, CFA, CFA Philippines president.
The seminar introduced students to various career opportunities and the benefits of taking the CFA Program. Serving as the highlight of the outreach, the forum on careers in finance featured five industry practitioners: Mr. Mark Yu, CFA of Seaoil Philippines (Corporate Finance); April Lynn Tan, CFA of COL Financial Group, Inc. (Equities); Arnuldo de Pala, CFA of EastWest Bank (Fund Management); Angelica Reyes, CFA of MetroBank (Bank Treasury); and Philip Zemen of MSCI (Offshoring Industry).
