BDO Foundation joins nationwide National Children's Book Day

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - BDO Foundation joined for the second time the celebration of National Children’s Book Day, a SM Supermall Program for the Youth and Children’s Welfare. This event was was held together with partners from the Vibal Group of Companies, National Bookstore, National Book Development Board and the Department of Education.

Around 70 Speakers Bureau volunteers from BDO’s Branch Banking Group (BBG) participated in the event, which has been simultaneously celebrated across 43 SM malls in key cities nationwide and three malls in China.

Three different children’s books with a visual presentation were read by invited storytellers to the students from various public and private elementary schools. BDO volunteers read the story of Arroz Caldo ni Lolo Waldo, a story of a grandfather who taught his young grandson the importance of diligence and hard work. As the volunteers read the story, they emphasized the value of handling money and the importance of savings through a presentation prepared by FVP Jonathan Ravelas of BDO Treasury Group and SAVP Rose Espinosa of BDO HRG-ICP.

The Foundation hopes that through this program, the children will be encouraged and inspired not only to develop the love for reading that instill proper values but also to learn the value of financial management and savings to prepare them for their future.

BDO Foundation gave away 2,650 eco-bags to the students and teachers where books from Vibal Publishing and school supplies from National Bookstore were placed.
