SNAP-Benguet completes teachers' quarters for remote school

MANILA, Philippines - A home away from home is what SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. (SNAP-Benguet) provided teachers of Binga Elementary School in Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon with the completion of a teachers’ quarters for the remotely located school.

The quarters were constructed for teachers who are from distant barangays with no means to travel on a daily basis due to limited trips of passenger jeepneys to the area. The project is part of SNAP-Benguet’s corporate social responsibility program which includes infrastructure and education among its thrusts.

In a simple ceremony held in April, SNAP-Benguet plant manager assistant vice president Renato Rarang said the project provides some comfort and convenience for teachers and raises their morale as they deliver basic education services to students.

The ceremony was also attended by Tinongdan Barangay Chairman Benjamin Medino, community leaders and project partners.

SNAP-Benguet is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower. It owns and operates the 100-MW Binga and the 105-MW Ambuklao and Hydroelectric Power Plants in Benguet.
