TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Philippines — Sixty-three elementary schools in this progressive province received building materials from the provincial gov’t for the ongoing implementation of DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela program.
Among the construction supplies received were roofing materials, plywood, concrete and wood nails, roof sealant, paint and paint brushes, paint rollers and trays, and door knobs.
The building materials were personally delivered by personnel from the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO) and given to each school principal during a simple turnover ceremony.
“This year, Gov. Khalid Dimaporo is focusing on the education sector. Despite the meager resources, the governor wanted to improve the learning environment for our students the reason why we are delivering these materials to our public schools,” PCAO head Lyndon Calica said.
Through the assistance, parents and school administrators do not have to raise money to purchase the construction materials and instead use their limited resources to improve the school performance of students.
Among the towns that will receive building materials from the provincial government are Lala, Kapatagan, Baroy, Kolambugan, Bacolod, Maigo, Linamaon, Kauswagan and the capitol town of Tubod.
The Department of Education’s ‘Brigada Eskwela’ aims to encourage the public to join its campaign to clean public schools’ classrooms and other facilities in preparation for the school opening on June 4.
