MANILA, Philippines - In line with Letran’s partnership with Gyeongju University-Korea, Letran Fr. Rector Tamerlane Lana, OP, and Dr. Soon-Ja Lee, president of Gyeongju University (GU) recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in continuation of the latter’s Semester Abroad Program, subsequent to the success of the “Spring Overseas Semester Program”.

The 2011 Autumn Semester Abroad project is part of the 7+1 Semester abroad program of Gyeongju University. This three-month program is designed to improve the English proficiency of the GU Tourism Management students as part of their professional training.

GU Tourism Management program’s professional subjects include “English for International Travel”, “Customer Service English”, “English for Hospitality Industry”, among others. A “customized” syllabus by Letran and GU is used during the entire program.

In response to the invitation of GU, affirming the “mutual friendship” between both schools, delegates from the Colegio visited the Gyeongju University in South Korea last Nov. 10-12. The Colegio’s delegates include Fr. Lana, Dean Cabral, public affairs assistant director Jhennie Villar, registrar Victoria Rosas and English area chairman Asst. Prof. James Fajarito.

The delegates not only inspected the facilities at Gyeongju but also took the opportunity to evaluate the student management procedures as well as check up on the Letran professor who is staying there as part of the faculty exchange program.
