MANILA, Philippines - Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila took the lead during the Manila Food and Beverage Expo (MAFBEX) inter-school competition held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City recently. Of the six events in contention, LPU Manila students brought home four gold medals and one silver. LPU students showed their superiority at the Live Pasta Category (Carlo Licher Reyes, Harold Bautista, Joeline Dela Cruz), Market Basket Category (Jamaica Faith Somongsong, Michael Huesca, Bernard Mayo, Lorenz V. Dela Cruz), Create Your Own Dessert Category (Jae Louise Cortinas, Princess Camille Nazal, Cristine Pescueso) and the Barista Category. Lyceans also brought home the silver in the Cake Decoration Category (Melissa Pancipane, Joshua Estrada, Stephen Agustin, Ross Ann Soriano). LPU Manila recently opened their Culinary Institute, the biggest and most modern owned by any university here in the country.
