MANILA, Philippines - Stephen Murray is the new head of British School Manila. Murray is British and has taught and been involved in education for over 35 years. He was, until recently, CEO of International School Dhaka, Bangladesh, a full IB curriculum school with a high international reputation and managed by the Council of International Schools. Previously, he was headmaster/CEO of the well established and high performing Antwerp International School in Belgium (www.ais-antwerp.be). The school was one of the first to establish the International Baccalaureate Diploma and sends students to universities all over the world including Oxford, Cambridge (UK), Harvard and Yale (USA). As a CEO he has mentored a principal in China and continues to host visiting head teachers, education research teams and delegations from Australia, Europe, SE Asia and North America.
Before moving to Belgium he was a senior consultant/ operations manager for the West Australian Department of Education and Training, providing professional development for state schools and provided consultancy for private school principals.
Murray has written 11 school textbooks and made a major contribution to the pioneering educational website www.digital brain.com. He has also featured in a BBC education series The Learning Zone, Open University Teacher Training programs and has lectured on many educational topics.
The British School Manila is an international school in the Philippines providing excellent standards of British education in academic sporting and social education. The school prides itself on excellent results - (in National Curriculum tests, GCSE and IB results, the school far exceeds UK averages).
At present 800+ students aged 3-18 are on roll and 39 nationalities are represented. British children make up 32 percent, Filipinos, 24 percent, Americans, 10 percent and Australians, nine percent of the total population.
