MANILA, Philippines - Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado welcomes the student-delegates to the first-ever Youth Summit (above) which was sponsored by Globe Telecom in partnership with the provincial government of Bulacan. With the theme “Kabataang Bulakenyo: Ako ang Pagbabago,” an estimated 2,000 college students from various colleges and tertiary education institutions in the province attended the interactive talks and discussions during the two-day summit which was held last July 29 and 30, 2011 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium and the Hiyas Pavillion in Malolos City. The Bulacan Youth Summit boasts of talks that center on the province’s seven-point agenda. The stellar speaker lineup included Sen. Loren Legarda, who talked about climate change and how young Bulakeños can reduce their carbon footprint; Se. Richard Gordon and Rep. Rodolfo Biazon who talked about youth empowerment; singer Gary Granada, who shared his thoughts on community responsibility through art and music; ABS-CBN News’ Pia Hontiveros on how media can spur social change; and multi-award winning director Brillante Mendoza, who talked about social awareness through film-making.
