Diliman Preparatory School offers robotics

MANILA, Philippines – The future is here at Diliman Preparatory School (DPS), known for giving its students future-driven and innovative educational programs. The DPS Robotics program, in coordination with Felta, Inc., distributor of multimedia educational products in the Philippines, is offered from early childhood education (ECE) to Grade 6 and first year to fourth year high school.

The DPS Robotics Team actively participates in the annual Philippine Robotics Olympiad. In 2010, DPS GS Team B was one of the finalists and ranked 9th out of 38 schools. In 2009, it was first runner-up.

This year, the DPS Robotics Team from both grade school and high school once again joined the 2011 National Robotics Competition and was one of the finalists while Team Tres Muchos Gwapitos was able to reach the semi-final round. More than 50 schools and 100 teams participated in the said event.

The school plans to join more Robotics competitions both local and international. DPS also aims to launch its own Robotics competition for DPS pupils and hold a Robotics Summer Camp. The school will also take the Robotics Club on an educational field trip.

This summer, DPS offers Robotics using RCX and NXT Kits for 9 to 12-year-old students every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Grade School Robotics Lab. The program will be handled by coaches Elsa Nava and Laarni Sta. Romana.
