Albay ups Nat'l Achievement Test ranking
MANILA, Philippines - Albay now ranks 64th in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) National Achievement Test (NAT), a big leap from the 177th place it occupied in 2007.
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda said with this development, the province has now entered the 22 percentile in the NAT among 205 DepEd division offices nationwide. He said they are proud in winning the recent 2011 Palarong Bikol championship after 26 long years, but Albayanos are even prouder with the exceptional performance of the province in the NAT.
“Despite the disasters that deprive our schoolchildren of instruction when we suspend classes or use classrooms for evacuation centers and the initial 39 percent high poverty incidence which curtail our capacity to provide greater learning resources, the collaboration of all education stakeholders in Albay must be credited for this grand performance,” Salceda said.
The governor congratulated the Albay Division Office and its officials led by Supt. Alice Terell and the “hardworking and passionately committed corps of Albayano teachers.”
The feat, Salceda noted, has proven the value of the institutionalization of the Provincial Education Department by their Provincial Board led by Vice Gov. Harold Imperial.
