MANILA, Philippines - Committed to assist the government in improving the quality of education, SM Foundation’s education advocacy programs go beyond granting college scholarships, building classrooms and donating books for public elementary and high schools. With the government’s plan to implement the K plus 12 basic education program, SM Foundation extends its support by renovating existing day care centers and building new ones to provide more conducive learning centers. These centers are avenues for young pupils to develop cognitive and creative skills in the areas of literacy, math, science, music, art, and language development. Day care centers also aim to develop children’s self-esteem, confidence and positive social skills. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held recent for two-day care centers recently in barangays Looc and Bulihan Nasugbu, Batangas.
Last year SM Foundation turned over a renovated and refurbished Praise Kids Day Care Center in Barangay Papaya, Nasugbu to local government officials.
