Students, youth leaders join Ilog Summit
MANILA, Philippines - More than 350 students and youth leaders in Metro Manila will converge in the first-ever Ilog Summit on March 12-13, 2011 at the PUP Campus in Manila and Mandaluyong Auditorium respectively, advocating the project Pasigandahan: Sagip Ilog Iwas Lubog!
The summit aims to create awareness and entice youth involvement in creating a more favorable Pasig River thereby becoming partners in solving the flooding problem in the immediate vicinities of Pasig River running through the stretches of the four cities of Manila, Mandaluyong, Makati and Pasig through the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project (Phase II).
The participants will undergo a series of lecture-workshops on the first day with invited resource persons from the government agencies, NGOs and even corporate stakeholders of the project. Invitations had been sent to Regina Lopez of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission, Annie Garcia of SM Supermalls, MMDA General Manager Corazon Jimenez and to government agencies like the DPWH and DENR. On the second day of the summit, participants will join the Takbo Para sa Karunungan at the Quirino Grandstand and immerse themselves in a river tour aboard the Pasig River Ferry en route to Mandaluyong for project proposal making and culmination of the Ilog Summit.
Interested schools and community youth leaders may contact the Pasigandahan Office at 5250767 or register online at www.facebook.com/pmrcip.
