Learning leaps to a higher level at DPS
MANILA, Philippines - Diliman Preparatory School (DPS), one of the country’s fastest growing learning institutions today, grew yet again this school year, with 2,800 students in its two campuses.
DPS is known for its innovations in the world of learning. It takes pride in its state-of-the-art learning environment through a future-driven, innovative, holistic, transformative, interdisciplinary and value-laden educational program. DPS is continuously upgrading its sports facilities, classrooms, audio-visual library, Science, Math and computer laboratories, IT programs, and its online grading system, registration, enrolment and library.
Now a globally competitive school, DPS’ programs have been introduced by its president, former Senator Nikki Coseteng, to the Filipino community in the Middle East. Among these innovations are the Edulynx English Proficiency Intervention Program (ePIP), Glenn Doman method of learning and teaching and FELTA Robotics.
Innovation leaped to a higher level when DPS launched its Astronomy Center during the January partial solar eclipse. DPS now has thePhilippines’ first ever and only seven-meter diameter digital mobile planetarium, the largest in the country. Korean and Japanese students, though coming from countries more developed than the Philippines, are amazed at this advanced and complete resource for astronomy education in the country.
The DPS Astronomy Center features educational exhibits, services, and equipment to enhance the study of astronomy and inspire young people to be future scientists.
DPS also does not forget to do its share in taking care of the environment. Sen. Nikki enjoined the 3,000 DPS students, teachers, staff, and parents to walk 6 kilometers from the DPS campus to the La Mesa Ecopark, where they planted trees as their way of “greening” the world.
DPS was established in 1968 by Philippine ambassador to Mexico Alicia M.L. Coseteng, Felisa Generoso and Irma R. Apelo. Today, DPS is one of the most renowned schools in the country known for its standard of excellence as manifested by its graduates and faculty.
