Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina soars high in licensure examinations

MANILA, Philippines - The Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Marikina, barely eight years in operation from its inception in 2003, is already earning accolades for academic excellence.

The following students passed the September 2010 Licensure Examinations for Teachers [LET]: Analyn D. Basal, Cyril Pearl B. Balgua, Precious A. Irinco, Keishelyn C. Dela Paz, Jenny Rose M. Mendoza, Mary Jean D. Mondigo, Josephine S. Ordaniel, Maria Angelica F. Primero, Resryllieto M. Ramos, Rejoice Ann G. Sabordo, Ma. Victoria C. Salvador, Hazel Sy, Geraldine C. Villacruz, Philip Martin T. Macapagal, Jessica Anne G. Macapagal, Jean G. Santiago.

The Criminology department also had a high turnout in the August 2010 Criminology Board Exam: Gerald M. Alvarez, Novie N. Amaba, Christopher C.Curay, Mark Lester C. Chiombon, Dominador Jr. A. Gallego, Mark R. Jamero, Junelle C. Jularbal, Aiza V. Lopez, Jefferson R. Marcos, Joseph A. Polo, Angie B. Oca, Johnny C. Oliva, Rodolfo H. Romero III, Jenjen V. Sanchez, Clariza C. Santos, Abigail T. Torral.

In the April 18, 2010 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), Jerome Macapagal ranked 2nd, putting PLMAR at par with other centers of academic excellence in the Philippines.

Dr. Dalisay Brawner, president of the University, said “...while the University is relatively young, it has earned for itself a remarkable set of accomplishments most especially in terms of students’ performances, be it curricular or co-curricular in nature. This may be attributed to the students’ high level of motivation to study, the faculty members’ passion and commitment to teaching, and the increased support of the City Government of Marikina and other benefactors and donors.”  

Dr. Brawner adds, “Along the way, the University has initiated reforms in its governance, enriched its curricula, enhanced the delivery of instruction, revisited policies, institutionalized its research and community extension programs and projects, among others, all geared toward the attainment of quality education. Over the last past years, PLMar’s enrollment has dramatically increased, hitting 6,000 this year.”
