Smart brings CALABARZON teachers closer to the Web

-

MANILA, Philippines - Three hundred public school teachers, students and representatives from 14 division offices of the Department of Education Region 4A (DepEd Region 4A) recently went through a four-day Web Page Development training conducted under the Smart Schools Program of Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).

The training was conducted in two clusters in Lucena, Quezon province. The participants learned basic Internet concepts, Web development and designing, photo editing and Web uploading, through hands-on activities.

The training is part of the leading wireless service provider’s efforts to encourage teachers and students to use computer and Internet technologies to generate web-based information and educational materials about their respective communities under its Doon Po Sa Amin (DPSA) project.

By the end of the training, the teacher and student participants were able to present the school websites they had created, with representatives from DepEd Region 4A and the trainers providing feedback on enhancements.

The websites completed in the training will be hosted by Smart for free, under its Smart Schools Program. This is in line with the program’s goal to provide relevant online content that will promote Information and Communications Technology in education.

Smart, in partnership with Netlearn Ventures, Inc., conducted the Web Development training in support of DepEd CALABARZON’s vision to be an educational community rooted in a culture of transformation in learning, teaching and school leadership.
