SEI-DOST Scholarship now open for application
MANILA, Philippines - The Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology announced the availability of the 2011-2012 school year scholarship applications to the public.
SEI Director Ester Ogena said applications for the 2011 Science and Technology Scholarship Program are now available to graduating high school seniors pursuing a degree in science and engineering.
Application forms and scholarship brochures can be obtained at the SEI office located at the Philippine Textile Research Institute Bldg. in Bicutan, Taguig City; DOST regional offices; Provincial Science and Technology Centers or offices of the congressmen. Online application is also available through www.science-scholarships.ph. Deadline for filing of application is on Oct. 8, 2010. Examination date is on Nov. 21, 2010.
Ogena said qualified applicants are provided opportunities to pursue four- or five-year baccalaureate degrees in priority science and technology fields in agriculture, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, food technology, forestry, geology, robotics, statistics, etc.
Qualified students would be selected on the basis of their performance in the national scholarship examination.
Privileges include tuition and other school fees, monthly stipend, book allowance, PE (Physical Education) or ‘’NSTP (National Service Training Program) uniform allowance; free transportation for one economy-class round trip fare for those studying outside their home province; group health and accident insurance; and post-graduation clothing allowance.
“There is a one-to-one correspondence with the number of years they have availed of the scholarship with the number of years they would be serving in the country as stated in their scholarship contract,” Ogena said.
