MANILA, Philippines - All roads lead to SMX Convention Center on Aug. 28, from 1 to 8 p.m., as the first and largest national power conference of Hotel and Restaurant Management students unfolds.
Dubbed “1st National Young Hoteliers and Restaurateurs Power Conference,” the convention aims to provide students in related fields with the basic framework for planning and managing a national convention and the necessary skills for interacting with the different bodies involved in the hotel and restaurant management and culinary industry. This power conference will highlight the latest industry trends on food, dining, and service, including the promising future of the hospitality industry in the country and its key roles in the development of the national economy.
High caliber speakers whose expertise are in the related fields will give the talks centered on the theme “Discover the New Ingredient for Success in the Hospitality Industry”. The keynote address will be delivered by Business Works, Inc. chairman and “Chief Disturber” Anthony Pangilinan. Other resource speakers are McDonald’s vice president for marketing Margot Torres, Internet marketing expert and professional blogger Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet, Arch. Gene Go of GNS+P Architecture Studio, Backroom Inc. vice president Bong Quintana, and Backroom Inc. president and ABS-CBN Channel 2 host Boy Abunda.
Prior to the convention is an equally exciting competition, the 2nd Ultimate Flair Championship tomorrow, Aug. 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. The event will gather participants that will demonstrate their exciting and captivating bartending routines to claim the title Ultimate Flair Champion for this year.
Organized by 4th Year BS Hotel and Restaurant Management students of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas as an academic requirement for their Convention and Events Management Class 2010-2011, the event is not solely for the sake of gathering young hoteliers and restaurateurs. More importantly, portions of its proceeds will go to ABS-CBN Bantay Bata 163 and One La Salle Scholarship Fund.
