Stem cell technology: Hope for children with special needs?

MANILA, Philippines - After years of studies and continuous research, stem cell therapy is said to be possibly the new ray of hope for children with special conditions such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy and other brain disorders. Indeed have medical professionals finally found a cure for mental disabilities?

Center for Possibilities, Inc. will hold its monthly parent support group meeting on July 29, 2010 with Dr. George Eufemio, as the keynote speaker. Eufemio is one of the pioneers who believed in the stem cell therapy here in the Philippines.

Eufemio was a former professor of surgery at the UP College of Medicine and was a senior consultant at the Department of Surgery of UP-PGH. He was previously affiliated with the Philippine Board of Surgery, Philippine Cancer Society, Southeast Asian Journal of Surgery and Asian Surgical Association, to name a few.

“Through thorough studies, we have learned that there might be a correlation between stem cell technology and human being’s physiological needs. We also discovered that stem cells also expand to brain cells, hence it might be considered for brain motor dysfunctions,” Eufemio explains.

CFP invites parents and families to attend and learn more from the support group meeting to discover the wonders and possibilities stem cell research might give.

The Center for Possibilities Parent’s Support Group will be held on July 29, 2010, 4 to 6 p.m. at Reach International School, located at 67 Paseo de Roxas St., Makati City.
