AFS intercultural education expo kicks off

-

MANILA, Philippines - AFS (American Field Service) Intercultural Programs Philippines, an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization, will hold its first intercultural exhibit, dubbed as AFS Schooltura (An International Education Expo) on July 24 to 26 at the Glorietta Activity Center.

The expo will give the public – especially students and teachers – a complete picture of intercultural exchange. It will help them learn about the culture and educational system of various countries and interact with AFS alumni. Up and coming young artists will provide entertainment.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony opens the event at 11 a.m. on July 24 while invitation cocktails will wrap it up on July 26 at 6 p.m.

AFS staff will be around to answer questions about joining any of the AFS programs.

Since it was founded over 60 years ago, AFS has been leading the world of student exchanges. Among its alumni are Gawad Kalinga founder Tony Meloto, Miss Saigon star Leo Valdez, SEAir president Avelino Zapanta, Hector Dimacali, president-general manager of First Philippine Industrial Park, Ed Dames, president-creative and events director of Creative Enterprises Management Group Inc. and Joey Pelaez, executive director, Department of Education Center for Students and Co-curricular Activities.

The program has sent over 13,000 students all over the world and are hosted by families, schools and communities for a year of cultural immersion. They come back from the program more confident, more broad-minded, better equipped for life.

AFS Philippines holds officer at the second floor, UP ISSI Building (Virata Hall), E. Jacinto st., UP campus, Diliman, Quezon City, with tel. nos. 9283432 and 3553453.
