SM scholars finish F&B service training
MANILA, Philippines - SM scholars enrolled at the Punlaan School joined student-graduates at the Celestino Dizon Auditorium of the University of Asia and the Pacific for their traditional school graduation. The SM scholars finished the two-year dual training in Food and Beverage Service. The diploma-course provides students the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career in tourism-related and hospitality industry.
SM executive director Debbie Sy and executive director for Education Carmen Linda Atayde together with Lingling Lansang attended the graduation on behalf of the Foundation. Also present during the graduation was Arlene Keh, president of CG & E Holdings.
Punlaan School, a project of the Foundation for Professional Training Inc. was established in 1975 to help underprivileged young women to acquire livelihood and employment skills. Courses offered are accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, while the F&B course is accredited by the Departments of Tourism and Labor, and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines. The school is headed by its executive director and CEO, Ann Marie Jacinto.
The scholars are Rossel Dequito, Most Outstanding Student; Kayla Cruz, Pauline Chua, Monica Gonzales, Maureen Rada, Sarah Jane Cana, Rosemarie Calanes, Mabel Federe, Karen Nunez, Oshin Mencias and Alexandra Alejo.
SM Foundation supports 900 college scholars taking Bachelors degrees as well as short-term technical and vocational scholars at the Punlaan School and the Don Bosco Technical Institute.
