MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Women’s University operating under autonomous status granted by the Commission on Higher Education is offering a BS in Environmental Science and a Master of Science in Environmental Management for SY 2010-2011.
Director of the Graduate School Dr. Jose Ma. Gonzales said the courses aim to “provide an environmentally literate workforce and citizenry, train students to function effectively in multiple environmental management settings and prepare students and professionals for career positions in environmental science.”
Among the subjects covered under the program are environmental planning, restoration and management, managed ecosystem and solid waste management.
In the Graduate School, the program offered in mixed mode (on-line and print) delivery according to dean of Distance Education Dr. Catalina Dayon, covers courses in air, noise, water pollution and control, theories of environmental management, environmental toxicology, sustainable development and biodiversity, environmental values and chemistry, among others.
Now on its 91st founding anniversary, the PWU, as expressed by CEO and board trustee Alfredo Reyes, “is committed to offer relevant quality academic programs and upgrade the accreditation levels of the various course offerings”.
