MANILA, Philippines - The PTC-CSJ Foundation launched a children’s storybook entitled, “On Tatay’s Boat,” recently at The Manila Ocean Park. The PTC-CSJ Foundation was organized by the Salinas family in honor of Carlos Salinas Jr., who passed away in 1992 at the age of 25. In his memory, the PTC-CSJ Foundation aims to carry out the family’s interest to pursue various initiatives in corporate social responsibility. The PTC-CSJ Foundation is part of the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) Group of Companies. In line with the company’s core business, the PTC-CSJ Foundation supports and embarks on programs that enhance education and people empowerment; marine environmental awareness and protection; livelihood promotion; and literacy, art, music, and sports development. In August 2009, the PTC-CSJ Foundation, together with the Outlook Pointe Foundation, launched “Sagip,” a storybook writing competition on Saving Our Seas, to foster English literacy and to promote marine environmental awareness. The beautifully-written, “On Tatay’s Boat,” by Cey Enriquez, was selected and further brought to life with superb illustrations by Nels Yumul.
