SSS opens 100-day training program for students
MANILA, Philippines - The Social Security System (SSS) has opened a new program designed to help poor students undergo hands-on training in its operations and increase public awareness on the importance of social security services, a senior official said.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Romulo Neri said the new Social Security Services Training Program (SSSTP) stemmed from its successful training for students and the SSS has responded to public clamor to implement it as part of its operations.
“The program helps students pursue their education and trains them to be productive by enabling them to save money for school expenses,” he said. “It also increase public awareness on SSS services and facilities.”
Under the program, 133 SSS branches would each hire up to four students. The trainees will receive hands-on training on various SSS operations from April 12 to August 31 under the supervision of SSS branch officers.
“We received overwhelming feedback from students who enjoyed work last summer. The 4STP was so successful that we decided to offer the same training program not only during summer but throughout the year,” he said.
Application forms are available at SSS branches and can be downloaded from the SSS website at www.sss.gov.ph.
Other SSS training opportunities include the regular On-the-Job Training Program as practicum subject for graduating students and the annual Presidential Summer Youth Program.
