MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino youth is indeed concerned about the 2010 elections. Statistics show that 54 percent of the total voting population comes from the youth bloc. Of the 2.6 million new voters, 80 percent are youth. Incidentally, these statistics are the same target market of the Foundation for Adolescent Development, (FAD), Inc.
The Security Bank Corp. and Pioneer Insurance and Surety Corp. present an evening with Jon Santos in his popular stand-up comedy show entitled “Kuring, Gluring, Syerrap at Dyuning: Election is Nearing” (For Voter or for Worse) at the Teatrino (Promenade, Greenhills) on Feb. 24 and March 6 for the benefit of the Foundation for Adolescent Development (FAD), Inc. Major sponsors are Rustan’s Department Store, Stores Specialists, Inc., Belo Medical Group, Directories Philippines Corp. and Smart Communications.
FAD is a non-stock, not-for-profit, non-government organization established in 1988 by its founder, Aurora Silayan Go. Its main thrust is Teen Value Formation and its central issues and concerns are self-esteem, parent-child relationship, boy-girl relationship and sexuality. FAD is the pioneer behind Dial-A Friend, the first telephone hotline counseling for the youth and web-based counseling called E-Mail-A-Friend. FAD is also the franchisor of the Teens Healthquarters, a one-stop youth friendly facility offering select medical, information-education and counseling services in partnership with the local governments of cities of Marikina, Valenzuela, Tarlac, Quezon City, Carmen, Sagada in Mountain Province, Talibon and Ubay in Bohol, Jasaan, Opol and Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental, NGO: Baguio Center for Young Adults and the schools, De LaSalle Dasmariñas.
