1st Asia-Pacific University Student Leaders Conference 2010 slated

MANILA, Philippines - With the aim of finding solutions to fight poverty by collaborating with other schools, colleges, universities and organizations to help the poor free themselves from their burden through education, the Manila Business College Foundation Inc. will hold the 1st Asia-Pacific University Student Leaders Conference 2010 on April 27-30, at the Makati Palace Hotel, Makati City.

MBC together with their major supporters and partners PCSO, PAGCOR NCCA fully supports the UN Millennium Development Goals 2000- 2015. The eight UN MDG Goals are: 1) Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, 2) Achieve universal primary education, 3) Promote gender equality and empower women, 4) Reduce child mortality, 5) Improve maternal health Goal, 6) Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, 7) Ensure environmental sustainability, and 8) Develop a global partnership for development.

The organizers hope to establish role models that will act and bring about total human development in their respective communities and countries and promote the common good, develop, share talents, skills, ideas, values, as main avenues for nation building, said Mariecor Salas-Ding, conference chairman.

Co-organizers are the Rotary Club of San Nicolas Makati, School Volunteer Program, UNYAP, NCCA, Bread Tambayan, UNTV37.

Countries who have confirmed their attendance are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Malaysia and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
