Enhancing the hospitality skills of the Filipino

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines is one country that enjoys an advantage as a reputable source of professionals who have redefined and uplifted the standards of hospitality. Most refer to the Filipino talent and skill that are at par and even better than other nationals, which make them stand out from the crowd, anywhere in the world.

At the Asian School of Hospitality Arts (ASHA), such hospitable nature of Filipinos is further enhanced and matched with the necessary skills to prepare them for the hospitality industry both locally and abroad. ASHA, which opened recently its first campus along Kamias Road, Quezon City, is helping Filipinos enhance their skills in order to excel in the competitive field of culinary and hospitality industry.

ASHA is partnered with some of the best in the industry such as the companies under the Cravings Group. The industry partners offer apprenticeship training with pay to their graduates.

“Our students get to earn and learn at the same time. Top performers can easily land a job with our network of hotels and restaurant partners. We also have a job assistance program to all our graduates. In fact, recent ASHA graduates are now leaving for Singapore to have their six-month training with pay,” said Angie Blanco, ASHA School directress.

While success cannot be achieved overnight, it does not mean that there are no avenues to reach success at a faster rate. ASHA offers a “One Year Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Operation” and a “One Year Diploma in Hospitality Management.”

“We also offer fast-track courses which can help graduates get employed easily and be immersed in an industry. In six months, one could be employed as a professional cook, or as a barista, professional butler, among others,” said Blanco.

ASHA’s credibility is reinforced in the fact that Blanco, an MBA and HRA graduate from UP Diliman, has over 10 years experience in hotel and restaurant operations. She has been an HR and training director for a 5-star hotel in Dubai and a resident manager of Best Western Hotel La Corona Manila. She also had 10 years academic experience teaching HRM in UP Diliman, DLSU- College of St. Benilde and FEU. She was the former secretary of the Board of the Association of Human Resource Managers in the hospitality industry for 10 years.
