MANILA, Philippines - For the second time in two years, students from the Southville Foreign University, soared above other schools at the Strategic Marketing Competition held Aug. 29, 2009 and were awarded during the PMA convention last Sept. 4, at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.
Armed with their remarkable 124-page Market Research Proposal on the ‘Dining Habits of Students’, Liezl Yambao and her teammates, Kenn Pennero, Fiona Yarr, Jasmine Rose Maquiling, Jean Baldado, and Mark Basilio, and with their Marketing adviser, Yay Olmedo, impressed the judges with a very exhaustive study applied in the vicinity of Southville Foreign University in Las Pinas City.
Stratmark Competition is open to all member schools of the Association of Marketing Educators (AME) and Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA).
Besting 21 other entries from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the teams from the UP–Visayas (third place) and De La Salle University–Manila (2nd place) also made it to the finals.
A competition for students where Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) once again put young minds to test, StratMark gave students the opportunity to test their grit on mutual alertness, strategic thinking, creative abilities, verbal skills and in this specific case, the depth of knowledge in consumer research.
Philstar, Friendster, Jollibee, Vitwater, Hanford, Yahoo, and ClickTheCity are just a few of the companies who supported the convention.
“We are very proud of our students. This particular competition allows the students to experience what true consumer research is all about.…,” said Dr. Rodolfo Ibanez, president of Southville Foreign University.
In four years Southville students have competed in Stratmark, they have won twice as top three finalists, and two successive years as grand champions.
