Science Centrum exec is Noyce Leadership Fellow

MANILA, Philippines - As one of the promising science center leaders from around the world, Philippine Science Centrum executive director May Pagsinohin is chosen by the Noyce Foundation as one of the 2009 Noyce Leadership Fellows. Pagsinohin is the only Science Center/Museum executive director in Asia honored by this fellowship along with the 16 science center leaders from around the world.

The Fellows were selected by a cadre of senior professionals from the fields of science centers and executive education. “You were chosen amongst your peers because of your potential to become a more effective change agent and leaders in your institution, your community, and the science center field,” said Noyce Leadership Institute (NLI) project director Shiela Grinell on her letter to Pagsinohin.

The NLI brings together leaders of science centers and related institutions to act as change agents at the crossroads of societal trends, global issues, and the cutting edge of informal science facilitated by competent core faculty in the field of leadership development, organizational change, science center management, and non-profit management.

Among the 17 participants, Pagsinohin is the recipient of the Noyce Foundation’s scholarship grant for one year with a value of $55,000.

The Noyce Leadership Institute bears the name of Robert Noyce, cofounder of Intel and inventor of the integrated circuit. His work in leading science, engineering, and technology to a whole new level of innovation – as well as the creation of new industries – is legendary. His legacy continues to serve as a standard for leaders today.
