The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - True to its commitment to quality education, the latest member of the University of Perpetual Help System, the Perpetual-Sapphire School of Aviation, recently inaugurated with Lt. General Oscar Rabena, Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force as the guest of honor and keynote speaker. Dr./Col. Antonio Tamayo, chairman of the board, CEO and President of the UPH; Dr. Daisy Tamayo, PEB chair; Col. Ernesto Levanza, president and COO of PSSOA; Brig. Gen. Alejandro Camagay Jr.; Anthony Tamayo, Presidential Management Staff, and Capt. Richard Tamayo, executive vice president for administration graced the event.

The Perpetual-Sapphire School of Aviation is the only aviation school in the Philippines with P6 million worth of facilities and equipment. Its new aviation building houses the school’s training rooms, aviation library and laboratory, mock-up training rooms, flight simulator room, classrooms and executive and administrative offices. It has a state-of-the-art Flight Simulator and well maintained training aircraft — a twin engine Piper Seneca V, a Cessna 172, three Cessna 150s, and an Alouette II Helicopter. More aircraft are slated to augment its fleet soon. The school is also constructing a 1,000 meter runway and hangar facilities in Pangasinan.

The school is presently offering CAAP-accredited courses in flying (private and commercial pilot licensure courses), aircraft maintenance (aircraft maintenance technician course, and avionics (avionics technician course).
