Taiwan grants scholarships to 15 Filipino students

MANILA, Philippines - Ambassador Donald C.T. Lee, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office representative, presented the certificates of scholarship to 15 Filipino outstanding students who will be pursuing separately two-year masters, three-year doctoral degrees and six months Mandarin course in Taiwan universities starting September 2009.

Ambassador Lee said he is confident that the students would study hard in Taiwan. While pursuing academic excellence, he also encouraged them to find time to relax, explore and appreciate the natural beauty and rich culture of Taiwan, and to make friends with Taiwan people.

The scholars in the master’s and doctoral programs will receive a monthly stipend of NT$30,000, and NT$25,000 in the Mandarin course, respectively equivalent to P43,993 and P36,660.

The awardees are Lydia Manguiat, John Paul De Guzman, Paolo Joseph Lising, Jacqueline Uy, Christopher Jay Robidillo, Suzette See, Fides Lopez, Kim Veronica Yu, Renato III Lee, John Diether Von Bacani Pineda, Jaclyn Cua, Jennifer Ang, Heidi Ching, Macario Gayeta and Maria Rinka Galang. They received their certificates at the awarding ceremony hosted by the Taipei Economic and Cultural office on July 31.
