MANILA, Philippines - The traditional Scholars’ Day being staged every school opening for students of the MFI Technological Institute (MFI-TI), was held recently at the Gym of MFI Campus at Ortigas Avenue in Pasig.
Highlight of the 27th Scholars’ Recognition Day affair was the presentation and acceptance by the board of trustees of the 142 first year students in industrial technician program (ITP) and 106 students of the new technical course billed as the Dual Training System (DTS). Together with the second and third year scholars, the total enrollees for the school year 2009-2010 is 491, excluding those who are currently on-the-job-training (OJT) in various industries.
MFI officials most visible during the program include VP and chief operating officer Antonio M. Kosca who delivered the opening remarks; Dean Alberto Muyot, who dwelt on his message for the scholars; Col. Alex T. Escaño, president, who gave the closing remarks.
Students who excelled academically during the last school year were awarded medals.
A candlelight ceremony served as an appropriate conclusion of the affair.
The three-year scholarship grant qualifies the student for free tuition, free laboratory materials, uniform, calculator and supplies.
MFI scholars are 90 percent already employed even before they graduate.
