109th Public LIbrary Day on March 9

MANILA, Philippines - The National Library (TNL), being the “mother” of all public libraries in the country, will spearhead the celebration of the 109th Public Library Day on March 9, 2009 with the theme: “Communication, Values, Good Citizenship: Tools for Efficient Services.”

Due to the present financial or economic recession, the usual practice of celebrating public library day with all the public librarians will not happen this year. Instead, TNL will only hold a one-day forum after a simple program to be held at the TNL’s Epifanio Delos Santos Auditorium. Only public librarians in the National Capital Region are asked to join the staff of TNL in this year’s activity.

On the other hand, provincial, city and regional librarians are enjoined to hold activities in their localities relevant to the occasion. They are requested to ask municipal librarians and barangay reading centers in-charge to join the celebration.
