Xavier exemplary alumni

MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School is set to honor three alumni as this year’s recipients of the Xavier-Kuangchi Award for Exemplary Alumni.

Richard S. Alianan (’83) -for his resolute commitment to serve God, deepening his faith through the Neo Catechumenal Community of Mary the Queen Parish, and embracing a greater mission in life, from practicing law to spreading God’s Word to non-Christians, following the missionary spirit of the school’s patron saint, St. Francis Xavier.

Joaquin C. Yap Jr. (’79) - for his devotion to the Catholic faith, consecrating his life to serve God through his long-term involvement with the university campus apostolate of the Servants of the Word, and the teaching ministry of the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Catholic Charismatic Community, and as professor at the Loyola School of Theology.

Vincent S. Perez Jr. (’75) - for his commendable service to the country as former Secretary of the Department of Energy, setting a high benchmark for achievement and professionalism in government service, and earning the distinction of being the first Xaverian in the Cabinet, and the youngest and longest-serving Energy Secretary to date.

These exemplary alumni will be recognized in “by invitation only” conferment rites on March 13, 2009, 6.30 p.m., at the Angelo King Multipurpose Center. The award was first handed out in 2007 to recognize Xavier alumni who manifest to an outstanding degree the Xavier ideal of “men for others,” inspiring other Xavier School graduates to dedicate their lives in service to the community.
