SM Foundation’s flagship project, the College Scholarship Program, is now accepting applications for school year 2009-2010. The objective of the program is to help provide quality education to deserving underprivileged high school graduates.
Now on its 15th year, is open to all graduating students of public high schools in the National Capital Region, Benguet, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Rizal for Luzon; and Negros Ocidental, Cebu, Iloilo, Misamis Oriental, and Davao del Sur for the Visayas-Mindanao area. Only applicants whose annual household income does not exceed P150,000 will be considered. Graduating high school students must have a weighted average grade of at least 88% by the second or third grading period.
Scholars can pursue Bachelor of Science courses in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, Engineering: Computer, Electronics and Communications, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical; Elementary Education, Secondary Education (major in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or English), Accountancy and BSC/BSBA major in Accountancy.
Aside from free tuition fees, included in the scholarship are allowances for books, school supplies, board and lodging and transportation. With a number of partner schools in Metro Manila and in the provinces, scholars are given a free hand to choose the school they want to attend.
Student-oriented training programs and education-oriented activities are being conducted by the Foundation like personality and communications development programs. They are likewise employed in many of its malls during semestral, Christmas and summer breaks to make them earn extra money for their personal needs and to expose them to the value of hard work.
Applicants may obtain their application forms at the Customer Service Counter of any SM Department Store. Applicants will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.
