20 summa cum laude to lead UP Diliman graduation

MANILA, Philippines - Twenty summa cum laude graduates will lead the 103rd general commencement exercises of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman on Sunday.

Leading the elite group of graduates is Ralph John Ugalino, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with an weighted average grade of 1.067. Graduates with overall grades of 1.2 or better are awarded the highest honors in the university.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, a UP College of Law alumna, will address more than 4,000 graduates. Marella will deliver the response for the graduating class.

Aside from the summa cum laude graduates, the country's premier university produced more than 200 magna cum laude graduates with overall grades of up to 1.45 and around 800 cum laude graduates with overall grades of up to 1.75.
