Mapúa to hold campus journ training, contest

MANILA, Philippines - Aiming to further develop journalistic ties with other collegiate newspapers, The New Builder, the official student publication of Mapúa Institute of Technology (MIT) will be hosting the 1st National Collegiate Journalism Conference (NCJC). The said event will be held at Mapúa Intramuros on October 3-5.

Themed as “Multimedia Journalism: Discovering Objectivism in Subjectivism” this year, NCJC will be a campus journalism training, workshop, and competition for all collegiate campus writers and journalism students in the country. The Philippine’s most respected journalism personalities will serve as both speakers and judges on their respective categories. An acquaintance party will also be held on the last day which will serve as the awards night. The event is organized by Mapúa’s 84-year-old collegiate newspaper, The New Builder.

Some of the invited speakers include Maria Ressa for news writing, Eros Atalia for editorial writing, Stanley Chi for editorial cartooning, Aldo Aviñante for sports writing, Meneer Marcelo for layout designing, and six others.
