MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines Economics Society (UP Ecosoc) gathered top economics students from universities all over the country for the National Economics Summit, entitled “NES 2013: The Economics of Conflict," at the Bayanihan Center, Pasig City last Sept. 13-15, 2013.
For three days, 90 delegates learned about conflict economics from experts, such as National Scientist Dr. Raul Fabella and UP School of Economics Dean Ramon Clarete. They also consolidated their views on the participation of youth in peace processes through small group discussions and a case study on policy recommendations for economic corridors.
Moreover, an official statement on the call for the youth’s participation in the national discourse of conflict resolution toward nation building was finalized in the last day and was signed by each delegate.
This year, the organizers only invited the top 3 economics students from participating universities in order to streamline the screening of delegates.
NES was organized UP Ecosoc, a student organization based in UP Diliman, in celebration of the Ecosoc Month and representation of the society’s thrust of excellence. To see photos and more, please refer to https://www.facebook.com/NationalEconomicsSummit.
