MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines (UP) Manila Chorale held a concert last May 10 at the Church of Saint Nicolas de Flue in Geneva, Switzerland, serenading the audience with various songs for a cause.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the group performed religious and secular songs, Filipiniana and world music and a medley of popular songs.
The concert was organized by the UP Alumni Association in Geneva and the Couples for Christ Geneva Chapter in support of the choir's child scholarship program for Filipino students in rural areas.
Officers and staff of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva joined the Filipino community to watch the concert, DFA said.
The group earlier performed at the World Trade Organization (WTO) where the country's permanent representative, Ambassador Esteban Conejos and WTO Director General Pascal Lamy attended the performance.
The choir stayed in Geneva until May 11 before joining the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf in Germany.
