ADMU offers English training program for teachers

 

The Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT), together with the English Department of the Ateneo de Manila University will be offering a four-week program on Teaching English in  Multilingual Settings (TEEMS). The program that will run for four weeks is open to all especially to public school English teachers. TEEMS pursues to aid English language teachers who will be part of the implementation of the MTMBLE and the K to 12 mandate.

A major feature of the TEEMS is a research symposium where the participants and guest researchers will present their studies about teaching English in non-native, multilingual contexts such as the Philippines. The program consists of:

- Theories of language and language learning that introduces basic concepts of applied linguistics, theories of language and language learning and their applications to teaching, especially in non-native, multilingual contexts such as the Philippines.

- Materials design and development which deals with the principles and techniques of designing instructional materials for all levels of learning taking into account current innovations in the teaching and learning of language and literature.

- Principles and practice in language teaching which is an introduction to the different ways by which language teaching has been approached and practiced owing to the influence of ongoing research in language description, as well as the development of thinking in the area of language learning.

The research symposium is on April 27 (Sat) from 9 a.m.-11.a.m. The program fee is  P12,000 inclusive of access to the Rizal library facilities and the participation charge. However, the fee does not cover the instructional materials that will be given during the course of the program.
