Quiboloy back at Camp Crame

MANILA, Philippines — Controversial religious leader Apollo Quiboloy is back at his detention cell at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center more than a week after he was granted a medical furlough due to a heart condition.

Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), was brought back to his detention quarters at Camp Crame around 5:20 p.m. yesterday, according to PNP public information officer chief Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.

In a message on Viber, Fajardo said the convoy that transported the evangelist left the Philippine Heart Center around 5 p.m. for the trip to Camp Crame.

Quiboloy stayed at the Philippine Heart Center after the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 granted his request for a medical furlough due to “irregular heartbeat,” which Fajardo earlier said was considered life-threatening.

The KOJC founder had been confined at the Philippine Heart Center since Nov. 8. He underwent a CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray, stress test, 2D echocardiogram and blood tests at the hospital.

He was briefly transferred to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, where he underwent medical tests requiring specialized equipment.

Quiboloy is facing charges of qualified human trafficking and child abuse before the Pasig and Quezon City courts, allegations which he has pleaded not guilty.

In the absence of another court ruling, Fajardo earlier said Quiboloy’s medical furlough ended yesterday.

“That is the decision and the PNP needs to comply with it,” Fajardo said.
