Banat Opinyon

Is the customer always right?

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Matud pa, ‘The customer is always right,’ which was coined by retailers in the 1900s, places customer satisfaction as a high priority.”

Yes, the customer is always right, but “what happens when a customer ridicules the service staff (e.g. smearing with cake icing in front of a crowd)?

“In a TikTok video posted, Filipino lawyer and human rights advocate Atty. Chel Diokno breaks down possible legal actions to be taken when involved in such an incident.’

Unjust vexation refers to any human contact that causes annoyance, irritation, torment, distress, or disturbance, kahit walang physical or material harm na ginawa.”

Padayon: “A crime based on Article 287 of the Philippines’ Revised Penal Code, unjust vexations shall be punished by arresto menor or a fine ranging from P5 (U.S. $.10) to P200 (U.S. $4), or both.”

Samtang giingon nga ang customer is always right, pirmeng husto, apan, wala kini magpasabot nga makahimo siya sa tanang buot nimong buhaton, sama sa pagpakauwaw sa mga nagtrabaho sa kompaniya o buhatan iyang gisudlan.

Dugang ni Diokno: “Another action is to file a civil case for damages based on the provisions for Human Relations of the Civil Code of the Philippines.

While we really don’t need a law to practice the value of respect (bitaw, wala kita magkinahanglan og balaud nga mag-obliged kanato pagpa-tahod o pag-respeto sa atong isigkatawo.

Apan, ang mga articles 19 to 21, second chapter sa Civil Code, nagkanayon: “Every person must, in the exercise of his rights and in the performance of his duties, act with justice, give everyone his due, and observe honesty and good faith.

“Every person who, contrary to law, wilfully or negligently causes damage to another, shall indemnify the latter for the same.

Kadaghanan sa mga turista, gikan sa America, Japan, South Korea, Israel, ug gikan sa Europe ug Middle East, nga dili usual nga mga visitors for the Feast of the Holy Child and the Sinulog.

“The turnout was already very positive for the benefit of tourism and economic recovery in the city,” matud ni Pesquera.
