Indigent senior citizen

Gipalapdan ug gipalawman sa House of Representatives ang kahulogan sa indigent senior citizen. Kini aron kahatagan og hingpit nga seguridad ug mga pagtagad ang katigulangan sa tibuok nasud.

Ang House Bill 5752 mag-amendar sa RA 9994, kon Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010. Ang expanded definition nagkanayon: “Any elderly who is without pension or permanent source of income, compensation, or regular and appropriate financial assistance from his/her relatives to support his/her basic needs, as determined by the Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) in consultation with the National Coordinating and Monitoring Board.”

Buot ipasabot nga wala’y kahinguhaan, ug giwagtang ang daan nga definition sa RA 9994 nga nag-describe sa indigent senior citizen nga: “being frail, sick or disabled.” Sa ato pa, bisan og lig-on pa ang kalawasan, apan wala’y igong kahinguhaan, maisip nga usa ka indigent senior citizen.

Ang principal author sa balaudnon, si Quezon City Rep. Angelina Tan, usa ka mananambal, nagkanayon: The measure would provide a more inclusive definition of indigent senior citizen. More senior citizens will feel more secure during the remaining years of their lives because of the guarantee that they will have the ready access to financial assistance and health services.”

Ang committee on population and family relations mi-endorsar sa maong balaudnon.

Samtang si Konsehal Victor Ferrer sa unang distrito sa Quezon City, mipadayag sa iyang kabalaka sa pagdumili sa pipila ka restaurant ug ubang similar business establishments, pag-display og mga stickers, posters, ug ubang notices nga magdetalye sa mga katungod ug mga pribilihiyo sa senior citizens.

Ang Ordinance 1858 sa Quezon City  nagpahamtang og silot nga P2,000 o 30 ka adlaw nga pagkabilanggo, or both, agad sa discretion sa mga korte. Matud ni Ferrer nga pinaagi sa ordinansa ug sa Senior Citizens Act, gikinahanglan nga ipaskin sa mga tindahan ang mga katungod og mga pribilihiyo sa senior citizens, “to generate awareness to their rights which has been somehow disregarded by some commercial                establishments.”

Dinhi sa atong siyudad, gituman ba kini sa hingtungdan nga mga business establishments? Aduna bay gipaskin nga mga posters, stickers, ug ubang matang sa mga notices nga nagdetalye sa mga rights and privileges sa mga senior citizens?

Ang RA 9257, kon Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2003, “requires establishments, like restaurants to display signs stating the rights of individuals aged 60 years old and above.”
