Victory of the Filipino people!

TAGUMPAY ng sambayanang Pilipino ang desisyon  ng Comelec na nagbasura sa disqualification petition laban kay Presidente Erap sa pagkandidato sa 2010 presidential election.

Ito ang paniniwala namin ni Erap at panganay na-    ming anak na si Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada.

Noong Enero 20, ibinasura ng Comelec 2^nd Division sa pamumuno ni Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer ka­sama sina Commissioners Elias Yusoph at Lucenito Tagle bilang miyembro, ang disqualification petition laban kay Erap na inihain nina Elly Pamatong, Evillo Por­mento at Mary Lou Estrada.

Malinaw at matatag ang deklarasyon ng Comelec: “It is the electorate’s choice of who their president should be. The better policy approach is to let the people decide who will be the next president. For on political questions, this court may err but the sovereign people will not. To be sure, the Constitution did not grant to the unelected members of the court the right to elect in behalf of the people.” Ang naturang mga kataga ang nakasaad din sa isang desisyon ni Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno.

Bukod sa naturang napakaseryosong deklarasyon, sinabi rin ng Comelec na wala namang merito, “unfoun­ded” at walang saysay ang nasabing disqualification petition ng mga taong ang tanging intensiyon ay mang­gulo, magpapansin at mag-aksaya lang ng mahalagang oras ng Comelec na mas kailangang gugulin nito sa mga tunay na makabuluhang usapin.

Ayon kay Erap, ipinakita ng Comelec commissioners ang kanilang “fairness” at ito nga aniya ay isang “victory of the Filipino people and of our democracy.”
