Si Rudy Romero ug ang mga Obispo
Lagmit wa ka kailang Rudy Romero, Dro. Wa sab ko kaila niya. Apan,
Matud niya: “Ignore the Bishops.” Dili na kono nato hatagag importansiya ang mga Obispo. Buot niyang ipasabot nga irrelevant na sila, kini tungod sa ilang pagpili sa mga isyu nga ilang apilan.
Niya pa: “The bishops have been all over the place. It is as though (1) that it is bound to speak out on all issues or national significance, and (2) that its views on such issues are still regarded with respect and credence by the majority of the Filipino people
“They are wrong with regard to (1): the CBCP does not have to speak out on every issue of national importance. And they are probably wrong with regard to (2): the CBCP’s views have ceased to enjoy the high standing that bishops once did among the Catholic faithful.”
Sa ato pa, alang ni Romero, di kinahanglan nga manginlabot ang mga Obispo sa tanang mga national issues. (Mao ra bay atong namatikdan nga medyo wa na kaayo sila karon sa media). Ug ikaduha, dili na kono sila sama ka influential sa unang mga panahon, sama niadtong panahon ni Cardinal Sin.
Sa tandugon kaayo nga mga isyu, igo lang konong moingon ang mga Obispo nga: “Discern and pray for enlightenment,” apan di gyud mohatag sa ilang baruganan.
Mipadayon si Romero: “Truth to tell, the CBCP, as a result of its perversely selective approach to participation in national affairs, has forfeited its right to be looked up by the Filipino people as their spiritual guide and moral compass.
“Sensible Filipinos no longer want for the church’s position on anything relating to Gloria Arroyo and good governance. They have learned to trust their own consciences and their best instincts. They have learned to get by without the bishops.”
