Looking back at the Luisita massacre
October 2, 2005 | 12:00am
What Pat did was to order the PNP and the AFP to enforce her return to work order upon the Luisita workers. But even if the soldiers and police were already marching towards the picket line Pat could have still ordered them to "halt" and "return to the barracks" by invoking Article 211 of the Labor Code.
Had Pat ordered the AFP/PNP to back off in the name of mediation/conciliation there wouldnt have been any bloodshed. Wala sanang namatay. My dear countrymen, the blood of our seven massacred fellow workers are not in the hands of Cory not even in the hands of the AFP/PNP but in the hands of Pat.
Was she or was she not aware of the existence of Article 211? She is not a lawyer. Her Undersecretary for Labor Relations Manuel Imson is also not a lawyer. Can this be a pure and simple question of incompetence or gross ignorance of the law on their part? In the meantime, I think the aggrieved families and victims of the Luisita massacre are barking up the wrong tree.
Considering that Pat is an alter ego of GMA. The blood of the dead Luisita workers are not only in the hands of Pat but in the hands of GMA as well.
