MANILA, Philippines — It is not the dry season yet, but the country could expect hotter temperatures this week as the northeast monsoon continues to weaken, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said the northeast monsoon still persists in Northern Luzon, with Baguio City registering a low temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius.

“It (northeast monsoon) will continue to weaken. This week, the easterlies or warm wind from the Pacific Ocean will affect a big portion of the country,” Torres said.

Temperatures in Metro Manila will range between 23 to 33 degrees Celsius.

“Many areas in the country will have fair weather. If there are rains, it will be for a short period as the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern Luzon. For the rest of Luzon, isolated rains are expected,” Torres said.

She added that the easterlies and intertropical convergence zone would bring rains in the Bicol region and Romblon and in some portions of Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
