ARQ’s “Engkwentro 15” features triple championship in Masbate
CEBU, Philippines — ARQ Boxing Promotions will kick off its 2025 calendar of activities with a slam-bang show featuring three championship bouts on March 8 at the Cawayan Municipal Plaza in Cawayan, Masbate.
Rodel “The Hulk” Wenceslao (22-19-2, 11KOs) will headline the “Engkwentro 15:Binombahay sa Cawayan” against Thailand’s Atchariya Wirojanasunobol (15-5, 7KOs) in a scheduled 12-round rumble for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International welterweight throne.
The Kananga, Leyte-native Wenceslao aims to become a double champion as he is also currently the WBF Australasian 147-pound titlist.
In the other title fights, Speedy Boy Acope (4-1, 2KOs) will lock horns with Peter Estiller (6-2-1, 4KOs) for the PBF Youth lightweight belt, while ARQ’s unbeaten upstart Angelus “Pitbull” Pilapil (4-0, 2KOs) will slug it out with the hard-punching John Rey Labajo (4-2-1, 4KOs) for the PBF Youth flyweight crown.
Two other ARQ mainstays will showcase their skills in the action-packed fisticuffs supported by Cawayan Mayor Edgar Condor.
Reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia South flyweight king Berland “The Triggerman” Robles (11-0, 4KOs) will go up against Anferne Palarca (5-6-1, 1KO), while former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Silver flyweight titleholder April Jay “Astroboy” Abne (15-1, 6KOs) will mix it up with Anthony
Gilbuela (8-7-2, 2KOs).
The rest of the matches pit Emje Felicilda vs Kier Torregosa, Mark Gil Gandi vs Justin Carl Apat, Joney Mar Loreño vs Jhonrey Vios, Jubert Kahimat vs Jhunrix Villaroz, and Christian Dave Bacang vs Rebin Crish Paclawon. — (FREEMAN)
